Jul 27, 2018 - Learn how to enable the Developer Tab in Excel for Macros & VBA, the. Edit the VB code for a control, and turn the Design Mode on and off. Exploring charts in Excel and finding that the one you pick isn’t working well for your data is a thing of the past! Try the Recommended Charts command on the Insert tab to quickly create a chart that’s just right for your data. Select the data you want to chart.
We'd like to explain that if we create a chart using the data from a pivot table in Excel 2016 for Mac, when clicking the chart, the Chart Design tab and Format tab are not available in the ribbon.

I am having the same issue and it it really causing me issues when trying to create reports that I have borrow a different laptop just to get produce reports I had easily created before.
Tina: This make no sense whatsoever. This functionality works perfectly fine on versions before this latest update. I have tried making these charts on version 15.19 and this is the only way I am able to complete my job. Something is wrong with the latest update.
You can personalize the Ribbon and toolbars in Office just the way you like them, showing frequently used commands and hiding the ones you rarely use. You can change default tabs, or create custom tabs and custom groups to contain your frequently used commands.
For information about minimizing or expanding the ribbon see: Minimize or expand the ribbon.
Note: You cannot rename the default commands, change the icons associated with these default commands, or change the order of these commands.
- To customize the Ribbon, open or create a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint document.
- Go to the app Preferences and click Ribbon and Toolbar.
- On the Ribbon tab window, select the commands you want to add or remove from your Ribbon and click the add or remove arrows.Note: To remove the default tabs or commands like the Home or Insert tab from the Ribbon, uncheck the relevant checkbox in the Customize the Ribbon box.
Here's what you can customize on the Ribbon:
- Rename the tabs: To rename, select a tab, like Home, Insert, Design in the Customize the Ribbon box, click > Rename.
- Add new tab or new group: To add new tab or new group, click below the Customize the Ribbon box, and select New tab or New group.
- Remove tabs: You can remove custom tabs only from the Ribbon. To remove, select your tab in the Customize the Ribbon box and click .
